Sony can increase the PS5 price to ensure the final tariff hit.

Sony expects to face a JPY 100 billion tariff in the next fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2026, and LIN TAO, the CFO of the company, is considering the same options as moving investors to the United States and raising the price of consumers.

This means that the Sony PS5 console cost will increase because Japanese companies do not try to convey the burden of tariffs to consumers.

The TAO did not mention it in the name of the PS5 console, but we suspect that the company will try to protect the price by raising it elsewhere in the electronic business, such as a TV. Sony has raised the price of PS5 in other markets such as the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and it seems to be ready to do so in the United States.

Hiroki Totoki, CEO of Sony, said the company is considering moving to the United States and it will be a “efficient strategy.”

According to the report, Sony has shipped 18.5 million PS5 consoles (11% less than the last 12 months), bringing total shipping to 77.7 million.

Most of the PS5 hardware came from China. The United States has suspended trade wars and reduced tariffs to 30%, which is still much higher than 10% of other countries. Since the game console is not part of the exemption, American customers should soon expect the price increase.
